On August 8, the Ministry of Tourism officially signed a partnership agreement with Metfone. According to local reports, the initiative aims to use internet and mobile coverage to shine a light on lesser-known destinations and local street food, helping rural families and small businesses boost their income.
The standout feature of the campaign is a seven-episode short video series, with a new episode dropping every week starting September 12. The crew will travel across seven provinces—Kampot, Kep, Pursat, Siem Reap, Battambang, Takeo, and Sihanoukville—featuring local chefs and tourism workers sharing stories about their hometowns.
At the signing ceremony, the Minister of Tourism said that food is not only a major draw for Cambodian tourism, but also gives young people a chance to use their phones to promote their hometowns online. Meanwhile, Metfone’s leadership noted they hope to leverage their telecom network to bring regional culture to more travelers while helping locals earn a tangible living.
