Recently, Cambodia held a meeting in Singapore to discuss maritime boundaries with Thailand. Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn expressed the country's desire to reach an agreement that benefits both nations and promotes peace and stability in the region.
Sokhonn outlined four key goals, with the primary focus on finding a solution that serves the interests of both Cambodian and Thai people. He emphasized the importance of establishing a comprehensive maritime boundary treaty through a mandatory mediation process with Thailand.
If the boundary issue remains unresolved, Cambodia is also open to signing a joint resource development agreement with Thailand, allowing them to collaborate while waiting for the final treaty. Sokhonn stressed that the initiation of this mediation process is aimed at peacefully resolving issues, not escalating tensions. The atmosphere at the meeting reflected a shared hope for a fair resolution, as peace is beneficial for both countries.
