A man was severely injured yesterday after being struck by a car while trying to dash across National Road 3 in Phnom Penh’s Pou Senchey district.
The accident happened in Prey Pring Tboung 2 village, within Choam Chao 3 sangkat. According to local media, the man suddenly ran across the busy highway and was unable to dodge an oncoming car. He was hit hard and left critically injured before being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
National Road 3 is notoriously busy, packed with trucks, cars, and endless motorbikes amidst clouds of dust and exhaust. With pedestrian overpasses scarce along this stretch, crossing the road relies entirely on quick reflexes and sharp timing. As yesterday’s crash served as a grim reminder, running blindly or misjudging a vehicle's speed can turn disastrous in a fraction of a second.
