Prime Minister Hun Manet has signed off on a sub-decree setting up a new dedicated steering committee, tasked with driving Cambodia’s national strategy for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The main goal is to give local micro, small, and medium businesses the backing they need to actually grow.
According to local media, the government established the committee to push the sector forward and offer stronger support for small business owners. From quiet family-run workshops to medium-sized processing plants, these enterprises are the financial backbone for countless Cambodian households.

In Phnom Penh and towns across the country, MSMEs keep daily life moving—the roadside coffee carts, night-market noodle stalls, neighborhood motor repair shops, and back-alley workshops. Every evening, as swarms of motorbikes roar past and warm stall lights flick on along the curb, it's these small businesses that keep the street economy humming.
