Amon World Communications (AMON) is planning to set up a wire and cable manufacturing plant in Cambodia, bringing high-end Japanese technology straight to local production lines.

Walk down almost any street in the country and you are greeted by the roar of motorbikes and the smoke of roadside food stalls. Look up, though, and you will see power poles heavy with dense, messy webs of black cable. For people living in rental rooms or running small shops, aging wires and short circuits are an everyday worry. Setting up a proper local factory to produce high-quality wiring would go a long way toward making local infrastructure safer.

According to reports, the new plant is not just about boosting electrical safety—it is also meant to help diversify local industry and build a more resilient supply chain. Construction is booming across Cambodian towns and cities, driving up demand for electrical wiring. Once this plant is up and running, it should help take some of the danger out of local building projects and daily power use.
