Today, the Ministry of Information hosted a forum called the Zero Fake News Media Forum, where they also handed out some awards. Around 300 folks from the Mekong-Lancang region gathered to brainstorm ways to tackle fake news and discuss media cooperation.
The word is that fake news is becoming a real headache, and everyone needs to stay sharp. In these countries, information spreads fast, and it's hard to tell what's true, which leaves people feeling uneasy.
Local media say the goal of this event is to build a shared understanding and keep fake news from running wild. People on the street think that with more transparency, life feels more secure.
