During the first ten days of September, Cambodia's General Department of Immigration moved fast, deporting 1,035 foreigners who were staying in the country illegally. The group included both men and women from 33 different nationalities.
Police cracked down on gray-market compounds and rental apartments around town, checking IDs and sending those caught straight to the airport or the border without wasting any time.
Local media reported that 104 women were among those deported. Whether they were working illegally or overstaying their visas, anyone breaking the rules is going to have a hard time while this crackdown continues.
