A foreign traveler heading out of Cambodia was recently stopped at the security checkpoints at Techo International Airport after customs and immigration officers caught him with 19 packets of suspected methamphetamine weighing about 186 grams in total.

With thousands of people passing through the airport every day and strict checks at departures, trying to smuggle anything through is a non-starter. Quick coordination between local law enforcement officers put a sudden stop to his plans.

People still seem to think they can pull off slick tricks right under the authorities' noses these days. Anyone chatting about it over tea around the neighborhood just shakes their heads, saying smugglers really never learn until they are staring right down the barrel—airport security cameras and checkpoints are definitely not just there for show.
