According to local media, the push focused heavily on the tech and automotive sectors. Sihanoukville has seen major infrastructure upgrades over the past couple of years, and the government is eager to attract solid industrial projects to diversify the local economy beyond the old staples.
While the streets are already packed with motorbikes, sparking real economic momentum will take major manufacturing plants coming in from abroad. Whether this trip to Guangzhou actually brings in hard cash remains to be seen.
