Cambodian Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron met with Nagoya Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa on the evening of September 18 while leading a delegation to Japan for the 20th Asian Games, according to local media reports. During their meeting, the minister highlighted Cambodia’s ongoing education reforms, which focus on stronger school management, STEM subjects, and digital literacy. He noted that Cambodia is keen to learn from Japan’s experience in boosting school quality, particularly in teacher training, bringing new technology into the classroom, and building strong community support around local schools.
The discussion was warm and productive, with both sides expressing a strong desire to expand exchange programs. Looking ahead, they aim to create more opportunities for visits and collaboration among schools, teachers, students, and education officials, as well as youth cultural exchanges. Hang Chuon Naron stressed that developing human resources remains a top priority for Cambodia, and partnering with Japan offers long-term benefits. He also voiced deep gratitude for Japan's years of steady support for education and sports in the Kingdom.
