At the Yunfei Hotel in Phnom Penh, manager Sophia is keeping a close eye on guest safety. Supporting the government’s ongoing push against cyber scams, the hotel actively reminds visitors to stay alert and never fall for shady calls or messages.

To help the public spot these traps, local police have rolled out an app called Kapea Scams. As Sophia points out, scammers use all kinds of tricks—from claiming you’ve won a prize to posing as government officials. Her advice is simple: if a call feels off, just hang up right away.

Police are also warning residents about scammers impersonating friends, family members, or coworkers, claiming there's an emergency and demanding immediate cash. If you ever get a call like that, don't panic—always pause and double-check with the person directly before sending any money.
