Cambodia is gearing up to hit a record-breaking milestone by exporting over a million tons of rice in 2026, thanks largely to increased shipments to the Philippines.
The Cambodia Rice Federation reports that from September to December this year, contracted exports are expected to rise by 87,344 tons. By 2026, exports to the Philippines are projected to reach 209,446 tons.
This new market in the Philippines is set to account for 20% of Cambodia's total rice exports in 2026, a significant jump from the 950,321 tons exported in 2025.
Cambodia's rice market also spans Europe, China, ASEAN countries, as well as Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Officials attribute the export boost to the high quality of Cambodian rice, which aligns with the Philippines' food security needs.
Agriculture ministers from Cambodia and the Philippines are enhancing collaboration between their governments and private sectors to ensure the success of this initiative.
This growth benefits everyone in the rice supply chain, from export processors to local farmers.
In the first eight months of 2026, Cambodia has already exported 122,102 tons of rice to the Philippines, making up 15.4% of total exports—a 34-fold increase from the entire year of 2025.
According to the Rice Federation, nearly 800,000 tons of rice, valued at over $464 million, were exported in the first eight months of 2026.
