The naval vessel docked between September 12 and 15. Local media reported that this is the first time an Indian Navy ship has called at the Ream Naval Base, and the four-day itinerary was packed with professional exchanges, sports matches, and cultural activities.
During the port call, the ship's commander paid courtesy visits to the commander of the Cambodian naval base, the governor of Preah Sihanouk province, and the head of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, with both sides discussing maritime cooperation. An evening reception was also held on deck, attended by Ministry of National Defense officials, the Indian ambassador, various diplomatic envoys, and specially invited guests.
The sailors from both countries kept busy, teaming up for basic skills training covering seamanship, vessel control, damage control, firefighting, and first aid. A friendly volleyball match was also played down by the dock, giving the troops a chance to mingle and bond through sports. Looking back, Indian naval ships have made frequent visits to Cambodia over the years, and this latest call—going from earlier visits to now pulling right into Ream—adds a brand new milestone to bilateral maritime exchanges.
