Recently, Cambodia's exports of clothing and footwear have topped $11 billion, which is quite an achievement. Demand for our products in the international market has been strong during this period.
From January to August, clothing exports brought in over $8.2 billion, marking a 6.54% increase from last year. Footwear exports also performed well, generating more than $1.5 billion, up by 7.56%. Additionally, travel goods and bags contributed over $1.4 billion, with a growth of 6.49%.
Local officials mentioned that Cambodia is in talks with the United States to negotiate a trade agreement. This deal would allow raw materials imported from the U.S. to be produced in Cambodia and then exported back to the U.S. tax-free and without quantity limits. This could have a significant impact on our local production chain, and everyone is hopeful for more opportunities ahead.
