Anyone who regularly takes the road alongside the Veng Sreng Canal knows what a headache it is—full of potholes, and an absolute nightmare when it rains. But neighborhood residents finally have some good news: authorities are moving ahead with a proper reinforced concrete upgrade to finally smooth it out.
According to local officials who visited the site to announce the plan, the project is split into two sections. The first stretches just over 300 meters from Road 230 to Road 336. The second runs more than 600 meters from Road 336 down to the Veng Sreng pumping station. Both sections will have a uniform width of six meters. Construction is scheduled to kick off next week, with the whole project targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
Officials noted that once finished, the upgraded road will make life much smoother and safer for daily motorbike commuters. There are also plans to eventually turn it into a pedestrian promenade, giving locals a nice place to walk and exercise morning and evening. While construction is underway, people should expect dust and traffic delays, and officials are asking commuters for a little patience and cooperation so the work can get done quickly for everyone's benefit.
