Police in Oddar Meanchey have had a busy few days in Samrong City, busting a four-man gang suspected of stealing and modifying motorbikes.

Local residents, who are sick and tired of waking up to find their bikes missing from apartment stairwells and street corners, finally have some relief.

According to local media, police zeroed in on the suspects while investigating a string of recent vehicle thefts. Two of the young men allegedly did the stealing, while the other two provided a chop shop where the bikes were stripped down, rebuilt, and disguised so owners wouldn't recognize them. Investigators said the suspects were also drug users who couldn't keep their hands clean.

The gang went on a spree across Samrong City from late last month into early this month. During the raids, police recovered four stolen motorbikes alongside a stash of spare parts and modification tools.

The four suspects and the seized evidence have been taken to the provincial police headquarters, where they are facing legal action.
