A residential house in the Borey Sambour Meas area of Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district suddenly caught fire at noon. The family living there runs a small business selling various accessories and solar lights. When the fire broke out, the landlord had locked up and happened to be away, and thick smoke started billowing from the house.
Neighbors noticed something was wrong and rushed over to help. Working together in a flurry, they smashed the glass, forced open the door locks, and used water hoses to douse the inside while calling the police. Because the alley is quite narrow, everyone was on edge as they fought the blaze.
Local fire services later dispatched several fire engines to the scene. Firefighters used water hoses to completely put out the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby homes. Local media reported that the goods stored inside were almost completely destroyed, but fortunately, no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
