On Wednesday afternoon at the Ministry, Labour Minister and Cambodia Board of Engineers Chairman Heng Sour led a working meeting with local media reporting that officials gathered to review the past eight months of progress, tackle current bottlenecks, and look at ways to streamline engineering sector management.
During the session, officials noted that online registration is now fully operational, making it smoother for both local and foreign engineers to get registered while putting the six existing requirements into practice. The team reviewed reports and shared various recommendations aimed at closing gaps to better support national construction.
To bring more order to the industry, the meeting outlined new steps: building stronger cooperation with major companies and relevant institutions, and exploring certification or awards for firms that consistently employ fully compliant engineers. With construction sites booming across the capital in recent years, keeping technical oversight strict helps ensure public safety and peace of mind for residents.
Looking outward, the board plans to boost engagement with ASEAN counterparts and international organizations, with ambitions to host an international engineering conference in Phnom Penh down the track. Local media reported that authorities will continue pushing awareness campaigns about regulations and technical standards so more industry professionals understand the value of official registration.
