A total of 14 national teams will compete, split into two tiers: the Premier Division and the Challenge Division. It's going to be huge. Over in the Premier Division, you’ve got eight powerhouse teams like Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam—all the usual regional heavyweights. Those matches will be played in Indonesia, using major stadiums in Jakarta and Bandung. The champions there take home a cool one million US dollars, which is serious money.
Our Cambodian team has been placed in the Challenge Division, alongside Myanmar, Laos, Brunei, and others. There are six teams in this tier, and the matches will be played in Hong Kong. Local media reports say Cambodia will face off against Myanmar and Timor-Leste right at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Sports Park. The winner of this division gets 300,000 dollars, which isn't bad at all either.
Altogether, the total prize pool for the entire tournament is close to four million dollars. Word is that every participating team gets a guaranteed 125,000 appearance fee just for showing up, win or lose—that’s decent money right there.
