Over in the Golden Triangle, the "Colorful Yunnan" enclave has officially lost its buzz. Early-morning passersby found all the entry and exit points sealed off with police tape. Heavily armed police officers stood guard on both sides, forcing passing motorbikes to take detours as no one dared to linger.
Nobody knows for sure what went down inside, and the streets are buzzing with wild guesses. But one thing is plain to see: several truckloads of seized equipment have already been hauled away by big rigs. Local media reported that it was a major operation, with intersections locked down tight and strict checks on everyone coming and going.
To be honest, the touts and small-business owners around here were already living on edge. Now, with police surrounding the entire block, the air thick with motorbike exhaust and tension, people are just grabbing their cigarettes and tea and scurrying back into their shops, eager to steer clear of the bad luck.
