You won't believe this story coming out of Xiangxiang lately, it's just wild.
It's about a 28-year-old guy, surnamed Ding, and his cousin, Ms. Tian. So, Ding apparently offered to set his cousin up with someone. But then, he completely changed his identity online, pretending to be a 'Mr. Perfect' – you know, tall, rich, and handsome – using a fake name. And get this, he ended up having an online romance with his own cousin! Seriously, what kind of mess is that?
They chatted non-stop on WeChat, and his cousin totally fell for it. Ding kept coming up with all sorts of excuses – birthdays, illnesses – and managed to trick her out of 14,700 yuan. This went on from July 2022 right up until the end of last year. It was all through small transfers on Alipay and WeChat, chipping away at her savings bit by bit. Who would've thought that the sweet-talking 'dream guy' on the other side of the screen was actually her own relative, her younger cousin?
Eventually, his cousin got suspicious and reported it to the police. And sure enough, when they investigated, it was him. He's been arrested now, and the money was returned – even a little extra, making it 15,000 yuan in total. He's currently detained, facing charges of fraud.
