Over in Bavet, some of those shuttered compounds that were supposed to be locked down tight have turned into empty, unsupervised buildings. When locals noticed something fishy going on, they tipped off the police. Officers from the Bavet City police force raided one of the abandoned buildings and caught five local men red-handed stripping electrical wires and hauling away loot. Three of them already had criminal records—classic repeat offenders getting back into the game.
The cops seized a whole pile of gear at the scene, including wire cutters, saw blades, hammers, several mobile phones, and three motorbikes. Aside from the stolen wiring, officers found ten packets of suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia tucked away in a corner. A quick urine test back at the station confirmed all five were positive for drugs—total addicts.
By rights, these sealed compounds are state property now, and anything left inside belongs to the government. These guys had some serious nerve breaking into a locked-down compound just to rip out copper wire to sell. The suspects and all the evidence have been handed over to the relevant authorities, and they're definitely facing court.
