According to preliminary local reports in Cambodia, on October 8, 197 Thai nationals who had committed criminal offenses within the country were officially deported after completing their prison terms. The group served their sentences in Siem Reap province before being processed for exit at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint on the Cambodian-Thai border and sent back to Thailand.

The route connecting Siem Reap and Poipet has long been a major transit corridor heavily entangled with cross-border grey operations. For foreign nationals convicted in Cambodia, deportation straight after serving their sentence is a common outcome.

Cambodian authorities have not yet disclosed the specific charges or sentencing details concerning these individuals, with further formal announcements expected soon.
