On October 7, Thai immigration police, acting in coordination with South Korean authorities, stormed two upscale residential units in Sukhumvit. Ten South Korean nationals were detained on the scene, spanning from alleged core masterminds to technical backend operators, marking a clean sweep rather than the arrest of low-level staff.
The search uncovered a dedicated hardware setup, including 32 laptops, 31 OTP authentication devices, 30 smartphones, and two hardware cryptocurrency wallets. According to police investigations, the syndicate operated online gambling platforms such as Redbet and Blackbet, commanding an active user base of over 1.5 million members with monthly cash flows exceeding 500 million baht.
Operating country-specific platforms behind the cover of high-end Bangkok residences has increasingly lost its safety margin as cross-border police intelligence sharing tightens. Thai visas for all ten suspects have been revoked, and they will be formally deported to South Korea to face prosecution.
