Around 12:30 PM on October 4, a 66-year-old female tourist from Yunnan, China, was snorkeling near Pom Pom Island with her family. Feeling unwell mid-activity, she requested to return to the boat to rest, but collapsed into unconsciousness shortly after boarding.
Boat crew administered CPR on the scene before rushing her to Semporna Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police investigations revealed the deceased had suffered from asthma for about a decade, and the case has been classified as sudden death.
