On September 24, the Muse District Court sentenced three individuals—Myo Aye, Nan Mo, and Mai Awgili—to 25 years of imprisonment with hard labor each. The trio lured a woman from Thanatpin Township in Bago Region with the promise of a job at a Chinese garment factory, but instead sold her to a Chinese man for 9 million kyats.
In a second case, a married couple, Daw Ni Lar and U Chit Min Aung, each received 20 years in prison for trafficking two women from Yangon under the pretense of high-paying jobs. A warrant has been issued for their runaway accomplice, Ma Khaing Win Htwe.
