Around 4 a.m. on September 29, Vietnamese border guards apprehended a 40-year-old Chinese fugitive near a remote border checkpoint in Dien Bien province. The man, wanted by Chinese authorities, was caught while attempting to cross illegally into Laos as part of a transit plan to reach a third country.
Following the arrest, the suspect was formally handed over to Chinese law enforcement, ending the cross-border run before sunrise.
