On the morning of October 1, immigration officials in Bokeo Province, Laos, handed over 78 Thai nationals to Thai authorities via the Fourth Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. According to Thai police, 76 of them had been involved in call-center fraud, illegal employment, or undocumented entry in Laos, while the remaining two were also illegal entrants. Preliminary screenings found no victims of human trafficking among the group.

However, border background checks quickly caught several wanted individuals. Police records revealed that eight people—four men and four women—had active arrest warrants issued by Thai courts for online fraud, operating mule accounts, involvement in transnational crime, and money laundering. They were arrested on the spot and transferred to local jurisdictions for prosecution, while the rest were allowed to return home after registration.
