FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the bureau is expanding its worldwide pursuit of massive fraud rings targeting Americans. Patel stated that these syndicates have swindled tens of billions of dollars from U.S. victims, wiping out life savings overnight. Led by the FBI, this global initiative zeroes in on sprawling scam compounds across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa that force trafficked workers into running fraudulent schemes.

Patel also disclosed details of a previous operation. In August, during a three-day search at Cambodia's roughly 200-acre O'Smach Resort scam compound, agents searched 28 buildings and seized 113 hard drives, 15 computers, and 35 boxes of evidence.
