Local media reports indicate that new compounds have been under construction in Shwe Kokko since early this year, despite past raids and demolitions. Several of these newly built facilities are already up and running, openly recruiting personnel through social media platforms.
Expansion is not limited to Shwe Kokko. New scam bases have also emerged in parts of downtown Myawaddy and surrounding mountainous areas, with several previously shut-down parks quietly resuming operations. A Myanmar lawmaker recently noted that central authorities need to tighten supervision over local administrations to ensure anti-scam efforts remain sustained and effective.
