Cambodia's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has referred Lieutenant Pei Yongping, an immigration officer stationed at Techo International Airport, to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. Investigators found that between January and June this year, Pei abused his position to facilitate illegal entry for blacklisted individuals, fake passport holders, and cyber-scam workers, pocketing roughly $200,000 in illegal gains.
Authorities revealed Pei served as an inside contact for scam boss Zhang Jianqiang, also known as Cai Youyuan. The syndicate operated a hidden scam compound in Koh Kong Province and had previously bribed a local commune chief and a deputy police chief for cover. The case is now progressing through court proceedings.
