On the morning of October 21, the Poipet International Border Checkpoint in Banteay Meanchey province conducted a two-way transfer of individuals. Cambodian authorities repatriated 24 Thai nationals, including 9 women, who were implicated in alleged illegal stay, unauthorized employment, and unlawful entry into military training grounds.
At the same time, the Cambodian side received 82 of its own citizens returned by Thai authorities, a group that included 24 women and 10 children. Officials on site provided returnees with food and drinking water before transferring them to the Poipet reception center to process subsequent administrative formalities.
Managing deportations while accommodating returning nationals illustrates the constant flow and strict oversight that define Poipet as a key border transit hub.
