According to an October 21 report by Myanmar media outlet Mekong, the United Wa State Army (UWSA) announced that 84 Chinese nationals who illegally entered Wa State voluntarily registered to return home. They were formally transferred to Chinese police via a China-Myanmar border crossing before October 20.

Border handovers have remained frequent this month. Prior to this batch, 32 individuals were transferred on October 5, followed by the handover of a Chinese fugitive suspect on October 16. Official figures released by Wa State indicate that cumulative repatriations reached 1,533 in 2026, bringing the total number of Chinese nationals transferred since 2020 to 88,988.

Wa State continues to keep its voluntary repatriation registration open. Chinese nationals residing in the region without valid legal documents can apply for registration, after which local personnel will escort them to the border crossing for handover.
