According to reports from The Star and Bernama, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department collaborated with the Singapore Police Force on October 20 in a joint raid codenamed "Op Noda-Rentas Sempadan." Officers executed simultaneous raids across several residential premises in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, arresting a total of 30 individuals tied to cross-border vice activities.
The initial phase of the operation resulted in the arrest of nine suspects aged between 29 and 56, comprising one Malaysian national and eight foreigners (seven Chinese nationals and one Singaporean). Police confirmed that all nine were on Singapore's wanted list, with four Chinese nationals and the Singaporean suspect also found to be overstaying in Malaysia. Authorities noted that these nine individuals will be handed over to Singaporean law enforcement once identity verifications and legal procedures are completed.
In the same sweep, police detained an additional 21 foreign nationals aged between 19 and 41, consisting of five men and 16 women, including 17 Chinese, three Vietnamese, and one Lao national. This group is suspected of managing or promoting online sex services. Officers also seized electronic devices and communications equipment, and police will investigate whether they were used to post advertisements, contact clients and coordinate transactions.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate had been operating since 2024, hosting two promotional websites aimed at the Singaporean market while basing operational hubs inside Malaysian homes, which investigators suspect was meant to evade enforcement. Further action against the remaining 21 suspects will depend on the investigation. Malaysian police said the operation reflected intelligence sharing with Singapore and that both sides will keep working together against cross-border syndicates using online platforms. The case is still under investigation, and the suspects' legal liability has yet to be determined by the courts.
