According to Bangladeshi media reports, over 1,800 Bangladeshi nationals are currently stranded in Cambodia after falling prey to human trafficking networks. Civil society organizations are urging their government to arrange chartered repatriation flights before the end of the month, when Cambodia's visa overstay fine waiver is set to expire.

Official channels in Bangladesh have reportedly received a list of 1,797 identified victims, with an estimated 400 others facing similar hardships. Many departed their home country with proper legal documents, only to be coerced into fraudulent online operations inside scam compounds, where they have been subjected to unlawful detention and physical abuse.

Advocacy groups point out that while Cambodian authorities have waived overstay penalties, exorbitant airfare and cumbersome administrative hurdles continue to prevent victims from leaving. Without decisive state intervention before the waiver window closes, many will remain effectively stranded.
