In close coordination with the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia, the General Department of Immigration sent 180 Indonesian nationals suspected of involvement in online scam operations back to their home country, including 29 women.
Prime Minister Hun Manet previously underscored the government's firm stance, stating that criminal elements will never be allowed to use Cambodia as a base for telecom fraud, demanding strict crackdowns and mandatory deportations for offenders. Law enforcement agencies emphasized that they will continue dismantling criminal networks and rescuing victims to safeguard national security and improve the country's international image.
This joint operation with the Indonesian Embassy suggests Cambodia is still pressing ahead with clearing out foreign scam suspects. With the government's stance this clear, the room for scam compounds in the country may keep shrinking.
