Acting on public tip-offs, the Malaysian Immigration Department swooped into an entertainment center in Pudu in the early hours of October 17. Datuk Basri Othman, head of enforcement, confirmed that 190 foreign nationals and two local Malaysian men—believed to be the employer and caretaker—were taken into custody.

The detained foreigners, aged between 20 and 41, comprised 99 men and 91 women. By nationality, 188 are Indonesians, alongside one Bangladeshi and one Indian national. Strikingly, the bustling nightlife venue is located barely 10 meters away from a mosque. When officers moved in, multiple private rooms were packed, each housing 50 to 60 people.

Accompanying reporters also spotted plates containing suspected illicit white powder alongside condoms inside several rooms. Authorities stated they do not rule out other unlawful operations on site. Those held have been transferred to an immigration depot for identity checks and investigations under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for overstaying and lacking valid travel documents.

With crackdowns on undocumented workers and vice spots intensifying across Malaysia, foreign nationals and local business owners alike are reminded to ensure all travel documents and work permits strictly comply with the law.
