On October 10, Pakistan's National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency raided an illicit call center in Johar Town Phase 1, Lahore, apprehending 37 suspects on site. Law enforcement confiscated 40 laptops, 35 mobile phones, and 5 desktop terminals containing specialized fraud scripts, spoofing tools, and compromised cardholder databases.

The operation relied on a targeted script: callers impersonated major US and Canadian telecom providers, pitching discounted mobile phones to extract credit and debit card credentials before draining funds through unauthorized transactions. With an English-speaking labor pool and minimal overhead, parts of the region have become quiet landing grounds for offshore telemarketing fraud.

The alleged ringleader, Hafiz Ali Ahmad, was absent during the raid and has been formally booked as the investigation widens. As international scrutiny over cross-border card fraud tightens, local crackdowns on these covert call centers are picking up serious momentum.
