On October 4, two fugitives wanted by Chinese law enforcement were officially handed over in Vietnam and repatriated. The capture was executed by Vietnamese police following coordination and intelligence support from the Lancang-Mekong Law Enforcement Cooperation Center (LMLECC).

In the past, many individuals facing legal troubles viewed the Indochina Peninsula as a convenient transit hub or hideout, assuming international borders would stall domestic investigations. However, with the Lancang-Mekong mechanism steadily weaving regional police agencies into a unified network, the cycle from intelligence sharing to tactical arrest has been compressed significantly.

As multilateral law enforcement cooperation turns routine, the remaining safe havens across Southeast Asia continue to diminish.
