Around 10:30 on the morning of September 23, police in Poipet caught two Cambodian men red-handed near a border canal in O'Chrov commune for guiding illegal border crossings. One is just a 19-year-old youth; the other is 52.
Local police reported that the border canal was swollen and running with a dangerous, swift current at the time. At the scene, officers confiscated a large bundle of heavy rope used to pull people across the water, along with a set of water-crossing gear. The two suspects have been turned over to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department, and authorities are continuing their investigation to track down others involved.
