Early this morning, police in Serei Saophoan, Banteay Meanchey province, launched a surprise raid on a roadside rental home, busting a hidden online scam operation. Officers caught three suspects at the scene, including two women.
The seizure was relatively small: just three all-in-one desktop computers and three smartphones. Both the suspects and the confiscated gear have been handed over to the local police station for further action. In neighborhoods like this, once the doors of these rental houses are shut, even next-door neighbors grabbing breakfast outside wouldn't have a clue what is going on inside.
Officers didn't stop at the first location. Following up on leads, they immediately checked two other suspected spots in the area, though those searches came up clean. With local authorities turning up the heat lately, anyone still trying to operate in the shadows is undoubtedly on edge.
