Mondulkiri Provincial Governor Korn Kimny led a joint task force to the Lapakha border checkpoint in Keo Seima district yesterday, personally inspecting the TG Genting casino following a recent police bust. Authorities had already sealed off the venue after uncovering an online scam operation hiding inside.
At the site, Kimny made it clear that the government's crackdown on transnational cyber fraud will be uncompromising. Even fully licensed casinos are strictly forbidden from running underground online gambling behind closed doors, he warned, calling for full enforcement of Prime Minister Hun Manet’s directives to eradicate every last scam hub in Mondulkiri and lock down border security.
The border township is usually a lively spot, where local moto-taxi drivers and late-night street food vendors rely heavily on casino foot traffic. But with the venue sealed and the scam syndicate dismantled, the surrounding rental houses have quieted down, and a noticeably heavier police presence now patrols the streets.
