A bit of drama broke out in Phnom Penh’s Dianbu district recently. Based on preliminary reports, a man allegedly stole a car and went on a wild run. In a desperate bid to lose his pursuers, he panicked and ducked into a nearby school campus, hoping the grounds would give him cover.
A school, though, is hardly a place to lie low. Officers reacted fast, tailing him right onto the property and trapping him inside. Before he could make another move, law enforcement tackled and restrained the suspect on the spot.
This neighborhood usually moves to a slow, easy rhythm, defined by the hum of motorbike exhaust and the sweet chill of roadside iced coffee. But when it came to a fleeing car thief, the police didn't waste a single second. Once the suspect was hauled off, peace quickly returned to the local streets.
