On the morning of September 17, around 10 a.m., a big commotion broke out at the Kampong Speu Provincial Court. Two male suspects, accused of theft and robbery, were supposed to be escorted to the prosecutor's office for questioning. But as they reached the back of the courthouse near the restrooms, they suddenly scaled the wall and escaped. The strangest part? They were still handcuffed together, each with one hand cuffed, and managed to flee like that.
Kampong Speu Police Chief Khmer Sokkha said that the police are doing everything they can to track down these two, aiming to bring them back as soon as possible. However, as of that time, they were still on the run. Despite police cars speeding through the streets, the two handcuffed men vanished right under everyone's noses.
Local residents weren't too surprised by the incident. One neighbor mentioned that this isn't the first time suspects have escaped by climbing the court's walls. It's a common sight to see police escorting people in and out, but the supervision during these transfers is often lax, giving suspects a chance to slip away. The fact that two handcuffed men could climb a wall and escape highlights a serious gap in security that needs to be addressed.
