Kandal province authorities are stepping up pressure on shuttered scam compounds. Provincial Governor Kuoch Chamroeun recently led a joint command team straight to the Rich World KH and Golden Fortune Resort World casinos, both of which were previously raided and ordered closed with official seals slapped across their main doors.
During the on-site inspection, the governor gave direct marching orders to law enforcement and local officials. He instructed them to set up a 24-hour guard rotation right at the gates, making sure nobody can slip inside to revive underground scam operations.
Ever since the two compounds shut down, business has dried up for the surrounding mom-and-pop shops and rental houses. These days, the only things moving down the street late at night are motorbike exhaust and patrol lights. Local authorities are keeping a tight grip on the properties, anxious that any lapse in security could let the glowing screens of cyber-scam operations flicker back to life inside the dark towers.
