I have been trapped in this dark place called Sansha Park for nearly three months now, holed up in Block B. The whole compound is divided into four sections—A, B, C, and D—and at a rough guess, there are at least 6,000 people crammed inside. It used to be run by a outfit called "669 Property," but they have pretty much washed their hands of the place and left it completely unmanaged. Staying here, you never catch a breath of anything fresh; all you see are electrified barbed wire fences and one terrified face after another.

Life in here is no way for a human to live. Some of the companies here invent all sorts of ways to torture people—beatings, forced kneeling, and grueling labor are just part of the daily routine. Some folks get punished by having to haul heavy water jugs or stomp on pressure plates, taking two hours of physical punishment a day. Even if you just want to catch your breath for a second, the punishment just gets extended. Just last month, a Chinese national died right here in the compound. Things got even more chaotic a few days ago when a guy working at a neighboring company finally snapped under the endless pressure, got into a fight with the management, and stabbed several supervisors with a knife.

It is not like people haven't tried to leave, but the moment you mention wanting out, all kinds of obstacles are thrown in your way. Some people scraped together every last coin to pay off extortionate "release fees," but even after handing over the cash, they were still detained and couldn't walk out. Out of the 6,000 people trapped inside here, about nine out of ten were scammed, trafficked, or outright kidnapped—none of us came here by choice. Everyone has been secretly taking photos of the supervisors and property staff, just praying that the government and police on the outside will hurry up and raid this place to rescue all of us who are trapped.
