Someone exposed a high-imitation software going around that lets you fake a transfer screenshot of over 100 million yuan for just 1.8 RMB. According to domestic media reports, these bogus apps don't just let people fake images—they also come loaded with Trojan viruses that can drain the real money right out of your phone. Alipay's security center rushed out a statement at noon, warning people not to trust those eye-popping balance screenshots online and to stay sharp. They said they're also working with the relevant authorities to crack down on these kinds of online scams.
To be honest, whether back home or living out here in Southeast Asia these days, mobile payments have become completely indispensable. Whether you're grabbing an iced coffee on the street or scanning for a moto at the corner, everything relies on that little "beep" on your screen. But there are always people up to no good, cooking up these fake tricks to scam folks.
