Poipet's O Chrov commune was a hive of activity on September 11 as local police raided a suspected online scam center, catching the syndicate completely off guard and rounding up everyone inside.
Officers arrested 37 Indonesian nationals on the spot and seized over 70 mobile phones and several computers scattered across the premises. All 37 suspects are currently being held in custody as local authorities pull all-nighters interrogating them to trace the wider network.
According to local media, police are still hunting down a suspected mastermind named Nha Chhay. Investigators say further questioning will be needed to piece together how the scam ring was set up and where the remaining bosses are hiding.
