There's been major talk around town the past few days over a big bust in Punjab’s Depalpur, where the Federal Investigation Agency finally caught up with an online investment scam ring.

Investigators tracking leads out of Faisalabad followed the trail right to a 14-member fraud syndicate, nabbing two suspects right at the scene. Local reports say the group was running a massive online investment scheme that cleaned out the life savings of everyday people living in the area.

Their methods were pretty ruthless. They targeted poor folks who were strapped for cash, using their names to open up bank accounts to launder all the scam money. When the FIA raided the place, they seized around 13 million rupees in cash and over three kilos of silver. It's a staggering amount, leaving over 4,000 victims high and dry.

Everyone out on the street—even the guys zipping around on motos—is talking about it. Twelve other members of the gang are still on the run, and police are hunting for them everywhere. If you've been around long enough, you already know those "too good to be true" online investment schemes usually end up costing you everything you own.
