On the 10th, the International Alliance to Combat Telecom Network Fraud held its founding conference in Lianyungang, Jiangsu. Chinese Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong attended and delivered a speech. While there, he also met with several visiting foreign officials, including Prak Sokhonn—Cambodia’s Senior Minister and Secretary-General of the National Committee for Countering Trafficking—who was attending the event.
During their meeting, Wang noted that China appreciates Cambodia's recent resolve and actions in cracking down on online scams. He said Beijing will continue helping Phnom Penh build up its law enforcement capacity, with the ultimate goal of completely uprooting the scam networks. Local media reported that the move is aimed at genuinely protecting the safety and security of citizens on both sides.
For his part, Prak Sokhonn congratulated China on the smooth launch of the anti-fraud alliance. He expressed strong confidence and optimism about curbing the global spread of online scams moving forward. With telecom fraud touching so many lives on the street every day, this high-level meeting brought the two sides together to tackle a headache that directly impacts ordinary people.
